Spring break is a wonderful time to rest and recharge — but it can also be an opportunity for students to stay curious, explore new ideas, and learn beyond the classroom. At LVA, we encourage students to carry the spirit of inquiry with them wherever they go.
One of the core values of the International Baccalaureate program is fostering curiosity and lifelong learning. While spring break is meant for relaxation and time with family and friends, it can also be a chance for students to explore the world around them in new and meaningful ways.
Here are a few simple ways students can continue practicing the IB Learner Profile while enjoying their break:
Be an Inquirer
Ask questions about the world around you. Visit a museum, historical site, or cultural center, or explore a topic you’ve always wondered about through books or documentaries.
Be Knowledgeable
Take time to learn something new. Whether it’s researching another country, learning a few phrases in a new language, or exploring global issues, curiosity helps expand our understanding of the world.
Be Open-Minded
Try something unfamiliar. Taste foods from another culture, learn about different traditions, or explore perspectives that may be different from your own.
Learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom. Experiences, exploration, and curiosity all help students grow into thoughtful global citizens — something we strive to nurture every day at LVA.
As you enjoy your spring break, remember that the world is full of opportunities to learn, discover, and ask new questions!
